La Grande Bellezza is the place where elegant fine dining and enchanting cinematography come together to envelop you in an atmosphere of intrigue and grandeur.
It has a strong and unique visual identity, with well contoured and refined details. It draws inspiration from the motion picture opera of the same name, along with several motifs which pay homage to the beauty and nostalgia of ancient Rome.
1. Making A Statement
Wallpaper makes a statement, and for many people, this can be intimidating. Many of us just aren’t accustomed to making a statement when it comes to our home design. And that’s fine becausae we all seek comfort in our living space. But the truth is: we’re all infinitely unique, and I believe that our home design should reflect this.
We were intrigued about this project from the very beginning. The brief we received was challenging, in the best way, and we were excited to do our very best in designing something that would be unique, memorable, and complement the space in the perfect way.

La Grande Bellezza – a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty.
The cinematic opera is a slow paced self reflective journey. It is an expression of wandering imagination, seeped in richness and pure emotion. But besides having a strong plot line, romantic and filled with poetic undertones, the film is an absolute visual spectacle; it draws the viewer in, and convinces them to stay.
The brief we received was split into two of the main rooms of the restaurant – one was inspired by a serene and visually striking scene, where the main character daydreams of a sole speedboat, making its way through a bright turquoise sea scape.
The other room one focused on ceratin key visual elements that appear throughout the film such as details of the Roman colloseum, italian stone pines, a statue of the river god Marforio from the Palazzo Nuovo and a giraffe.
We were tasked with creating a composition that seamlessly integrated these specific elements into the space, whilst keeping in focus the general aesthetic of the location. We had a clear focus towards a mural-style design, that resembles a weathered painting, making it feel as if it had already been an integral part of the space, from the very beginning, emulating the glamorously wistful yet whimsical feel of the film.
Through a collaborative effort with PickTwo, we aimed to harmoniously intertwine the murals with the surrounding elements, resulting in a unified, cohesive overall design
“For La Grande Bellezza, I wanted to bring the essence of the movie straight to your plate. Imagine going out to dinner and feeling yourself transported in an iconic scene, with all the elegance and drama included – it’s like having a night out in Rome, but without the plane ticket.”
